Tour De Fleece, July Tour

I decided to slow down, but continue spinning through the month.  I still wanted to finish the bobbins I started before the Tour finished.  Here is bobbin #3.  Now I was able to make another 3 ply.

Here is the start of the 3 ply yarn.

Now I have 3 more skeins of yarn.  The first one is all three bobbins.  The second is also all three, till one of the three ran out.  The third is the last two bobbins, plus fiber from three other bobbins.

Tour De Fleece, Final Day, #23

Final day of the official tour.

Here is my overall accomplishments this year.  Two full skins, a mini skein. and two bobbins.

The RCF is finished.  I am not plying, as I want a 3 ply yarn, and only 2 bobbins filled with fiber from the tour.

Here in Random Color Fiber #2.  In the next week or so, it will be spun, and plied with the other two bobbins.  It is the same fiber content as the other two.  They are all from the same dyeing event.

A few last Tara pictures.

Not a lot to report.  I hope to have the rest of this spun tomorrow.   I still need one more bobbin before I ply.

Morning tweets

I think with the warm temps, I will probably finish with this braid, but not ply before the TDF is over.

After breakfast bath.

Not a lot to report today, other than it is a warm morning, and after a couple hours, I was done.

Breakfast was alright, but that one itch.

Tour De Fleece, Day 19

This is the last of the Random Fall Fiber.  The bobbin is now full, and I can move on to a different braid.

This one is a Random Color Fiber.  I do not know what my reasons were when I dyed this one.  It is muted in color, but I'm happy to have is on the wheel.

Another hot day.

Tour De Fleece, Day 18

Dad!  I'm hungry!  Yes, the cries of I'm hungry, or fill my water bowl, so I can go chase all the cicadas out of the bush.

I knew today would be off.  This is what I saw across the way, as the Short Term Rental (What others call AirBnB).  The small object to the right (I found out later) is a mechanical bull.  The toys people need to go on vacation.  At least they didn't come out till I was done to start their loud music.

It's hot again!

To me, either because the humidity was lower, or that it didn't feel as hot as it was, I got some extra spinning motivation.  There's not only some left, that I will finish tomorrow, and on to another bobbin.

I got around to soaking my skeins today.  Both got to be soaks, and dried.  Now they are ready to display.

Tour De Fleece, Day 17

Did some spinning on the Monday break.  Another hot morning, but with the humidity a little lower, it was more bearable.

The Cicada hunter is tired.

Tour De Fleece, Day 16

Not as much done today.  It was already around 88/90 at sunrise today.  Lots of pink in this section of the braid.

Tara said Breakfast was decent today.

Checking out the wall.  There was a bird, but it flew away.

Tour De Fleece, Day 15

Not as much going on today.  The heat advisory started, and it was past 90 before 8 am.  Still working on the Random Fall Fiber.

Tara, trying to find a cool spot, and chasing cicadas.

Tour De Fleece, Day 14

Took the plyed yarn from the jumbo bobbin to the Knitty Knotty.  Here is is, ready to get soaked.

I have other fiber that I can ply, so 4 bobbins. I plied I emptied two bobbins.  The small skein is more of a random ply from those 4 bobbins.  I still need to soak both.

I'm calling this Random Fall Fiber.  This came from hand painting, from the same dye event the blue came from.

I'm I a cute kitty?

Tour De Fleece, Day 13 and Sounds of Cicadas

I got to spin last night, then today, I finished the RBF.  Here is all that Blue.

Here is all three together.

I came back from the gym, and it wasn't too hot out, so Tara took a break at my feet.

So to ply,  I place the three bobbins behind me, and spin the opposite direction on the wheel to make them into one skein of yarn.

My jumbo bobbin is so full, the flyer will not spin without help.

This is what is left of my three bobbins.  I will work on the leftovers tomorrow.

Okay, two videos.  Last night, while I was outside, I recorded sounds made by the cicadas.
