GAL 34 and 35 (of 35)

This should have been #35, but I still hadn't decided what to do for the last one.

Then to finish the last square, I was going to multi-color, then changed my mind.  It got too complicated with 4 strands.

I just need to stitch up the last column, then stitch the columns together.

------

Now that this is almost done, I can get back to what I promised myself, to complete the Master's Hand Knitting Level 1.  I started this once after mom passed away, but never finished.  Started to work on it a year ago, but the blanket was taking my knitting time.

-----

I decided with a friend to take a trip to Disneyland on my short summer vacation to see both parks.  This is also Disneyland's 60th Celebration.

GAL 33 of 35

I'm back on track.  Here is #33

If you don't recognize the front design, you never had an interest in the newspaper comics, or popular holiday television shows.

GAL 32 of 35, Sewing and Reunion

A little late, but here is GAL #32.
What is MB?  MythBusters.  A Discovery Channel show that is in their 11th season.  I love science, and the process of Scientific Method.  Even some geek myths have been shown.

------

The garden has done well some ways, and only so-so in others.
I finally figured out what the yellow flower plant is.  It is a Mustard plant.  It has done well.  I'm now seeing seed pods growing on the first plant.

My Facebook friends already realize this, but in a few more weeks, I will have graduated from High School 30 years ago.  I am part of the committee for the reunion, so part of my job has been seeing how many/who all we have contact with via Facebook.  I also took the sad duty of trying to see how many classmates we've lost.   Maybe sometime I will show pictures of me though the years.  Here is one:

Here is a photo of my Homeroom in 6th grade.

GAL 31 of 35, Knitting and Sewing

The next square is Lord of the Ring.    It is my favorite movie for the location.

-----

This is suppose to be a Mochimochi flower.  I left the eyes off, and use a larger weight yarn. Neither showed the colors as well as I wanted to.  The pattern is here.  I gave it to a friend Saturday.

-----

Sewing is going well.  Thanks to another knitting friend, I learned a basic bow tie pattern.
Here are my first 3.  The left is my first one, after doing a practice piece.  The second is in remnant fabric I had.  The third was made for tomorrow.  If you weren't sure why, tomorrow is Fat Tuesday.  I wish I could be in New Orleans, but at least I can dream.

Fabric for my next big project is in the mail.  Hope it isn't stuck in the snow.

GAL #30 of 35 and Left Turn

Here is the 30th square, called dragon.  The original looked very cartoony.  Another person wrote a chart for a more realistic dragon, that I though looked much better.

Left turn has grown.  I'm in the middle of the 4th ball of scrap sock yarn.  Between my own knitting and a friend's scrap yarn, I have plenty before I looking into my stash.

GAL Blanket Update

A few people have asked how the blanket looks, and if I have connected any squares yet.  Yes, I have connected some of the columns.
No, the 4th column has not been put together yet.  You can also see where the missing squares need to go.

I did have a few problems trying to take pictures.

GAL #29 of 35

Three things helped influence this square, other than the obvious reason.  "I want My MTV: The Uncensored Story of the Music Video Revolution".  I listened the Audio version, and was very interested how it was going to fail, and how the focus was not on the VJs, but the music.  Next was a book by the actual VJs, "VJ, The Unplugged Adventures of MTV's First Wave".  These were a autobiography from the four of the first five, with a little of the fifth VJs (Video Disc Jockey).  Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter and Martha Quinn.  (J.J. Jackson, RIP).  The final is one of my favorite radio stations, 80's on 8, on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio, hosted by the same four said VJs.

Why the dates?  MTV started in 1981.  1986 was when the first changed with the VJs occurred, and people's contracts were not extended.  1991 was the last year there was the focus on music, with extra shows added in.  Reality shows started, which were more profitable.

Why did I not reverse the logo on the back?  I always wondered if the original flag was mirrored as well.

Of course if you miss the old network, they are starting to bring some back on Vimeo.

GAL #28 of 35

Yes, I did post out of 35.  I'm finally going with a 5 X 7 (5 Across, 7 down).  Only 2 or 3 GAL issued squares left.  Why 2 or 3?  I'm still debating on the dragon square.

Square #28 takes me back to me teenage years.  I was first introduced to Douglas Adams in the early 80s, when a local radio station broadcast the BBC Radio show "Hitchhiker's Guild to the Galaxy", which included an edited version of the first three books of the Trilogy.  Since, I have read and listen to all 5 books, plus a sixth book released by Eoin Colfer, which makes 6 books in the Trilogy.  If you are familiar with the series, this isn't as confusing as it sounds.

If your trying to figure this one out, that is a thumb and fingers over a planet with a ring.

Now, do you know where your towel is?

GAL #27

Forgot to post this one.  This is the second in my GAL (Geek a Long) squares.

One of the most influential early computer games I played was not a fancy console game, not a intense graphical game, in fact there were no graphics at all.  The game was called, "Zork".  It was early in the Text Based Adventure Games.  You had to draw maps, or buy them, otherwise you would have been lost.  Going North, you might not be able to go South and return to the same spot.  It also encouraged me to read, which lead me into the adventure of reading too.

It all started with:

You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door.
There is a small mailbox here.

GAL #24, 25 & 26

Once again, I'm not keeping up with my knitting.

I've enjoyed the Narnia Series, especially the two versions of Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, and the different versions on both TV and Movies.  I had fun with this square too, because this was my second attempt using three colors.  I'm still not even sure which will be the front.

The is the first Current Television Show.  The square was originally titled Atom, but it is the atom used in The Big Bang Theory logo.  As I talked to knitting friends, the phrase know most from the series, was "Bazinga".  Unlike other charts, I had all three colors floating while using the yelow.

Growing up, I played with may different building sets, but my favorite, even today, are Legos!

GAL #21, #22 and #23

I just skimmed my blog and realized I'm missing squares from the GAL.

This is Sherlock (Sherlock Holmes).  I love the new BBC version, and I have been listening to the complete works of Sherlock Holmes.   I'm even more excited because BBC America just announced they will be showing the series, so I plan to set my DVR, since last I saw, they were still not on Amazon Prime.

My first real console game was an Atari 2600.  When I wanted to learn about computers, I found the 2600 Programming Cartridge was not worth the cost.  Where did I finally find the cartridge?  An Atari Computer Store.  What caught my attention?  The Atari 400 and 800 home computer.  Within a few months, after visiting the store a lot, was my own Atari 400.  It had 16K  (Not Meg), and an audio cassette recorder to store programs.  I later traded a bunch of cartridges for 48K of ram, giving me 64K of ram.  Hard to believe were computers went from there.

I stated that the 2600 was my first real game console.  I said that, because it was not my first console game.  Atari could change games, but my first console only had one game.  There were a few versions, but it was still one single game.  This is the game that changed not only the game console market, but was the first arcade game as well.  The first game was?  Pong!

GAL #20 & KBC Dish Cloth

Here is #20.  This is the alternate square for the Star Trek Square.   This is the logo for Star Fleet.

I've mentioned Knitter's Brewing Company.  Their Ravelry Group plays several sports games through the year.  This includes both the Chase for the Sprint Cup and Football.  The entry for each game is one dish cloth.  Here is my entry for NASCAR.  Football comes next.

GAL #19

I'm behind on my posts.  The 4th of the Harry Potter Series.  This is the House logo for the Ravenclaws.

GAL #18

Here is square #18.  This is the 3rd of the Harry Potter Series.  I'm currently working on the 4th.  The one represents the Slytherin House.
